Have you ever been in a situation or in a fix, where you really needed to make a quick, yet important decision; say you needed the help of your closest friend or accountability partner, but they were unavailable? You tried their phone – no response, texted them – no reply either … You were frantic, and under pressure to do something important and you just needed to run it through someone else. It is crazy how you’d have access to a close person everyday, and the moment you need them the most, they are not there. LOL. Life happens.
I have been in such situations a few times, and It can be frustrating to not have a sounding board before you make that decision.
On a day similar to this, the Holy Spirit reminded me that people are undependable – and so I should not have my one-hundred percent banked on them. Yes, relationships are a blessing, but God remains the ultimate. Sometimes even with the help of amazing friends, we still make bad decisions that cost us.
So, I asked Him “how then can I nail my decisions right all the time?”
“Depend on me, I am READILY and ALWAYS available. I never take a leave or go on a sabbatical”
“I am not the one-off and one-time helper, I am constantly waiting to help you and guide you in everything!”
“Depending on Me for your every decision will keep you to fulfilled and rested”
This is what it means to live a banging life.
A banging life is that where things are happening for you back-to-back, a life of certainty and direction, which is what the Holy Spirit gives.
Jesus speaking to His disciples said:
But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth].
John 16:13 AMP
You have probably prayed for something before, followed the positive nudge you felt in your instincts, an eventually found out it was the best step you took, though you probably were uncertain at first!
Now imagine we prayed about everything and followed that positive leading with everything in your life? Life would definitely be a bang! God made it clear to me that it’s because we do not allow Him lead us in everything, that is why we have misses here and there.
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Proverbs 3:5-6 MSG
There may be some things you feel you really don’t need God’s help or input; Perhaps you feel you are ‘bothering’ God. Other times, we make unconsciously sideline Him- thinking to ourselves “I can handle this one”.
But I’m challenge you with this – what if you involved Him in EVERYTHING? Whether you are sure or not? When deciding who to date, when trying to pick an outfit for work, before sending that email, or even when you want to take a piss (literally), or perhaps when you are deciding over a challenging life issue? What if?
Something else He pointed out to me;
I am GOD your God who teaches you how to live right and well. I show you what to do, where to go.
If you had listened all along to what I told you, your life would have flowed full like a river, blessings rolling in like waves from the sea.
Isaiah 48:17-18 MSG
Think about this: if you can testify that God-the Holy Spirit helped you at any point in time with any issue you successfully dealt with, be sure He can handle everything else at every other time. “But why won’t He out-rightly proffer solutions when I’m in a fix?” you ask. Because you need to always ask Him. He wants you to intentionally make room for Him to engage Him constantly. He is gentle and will not override your willpower. We are spirit beings and it should be normal that we commune and rely on the Holy Spirit’s way of doing things.
Apostle Paul teaches:
So I say let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t carry out you’re your sinful nature craves
Galatians 5:16 NLT
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
Galatians 5:25 NLT
Sinful nature here could be our natural way of thinking, the need for validation and approval by others, including every other opinion outside God, etc. This is our normal way of life on earth. But there is a higher way, which if we have given our lives to Christ, we should live by. If we truly live by Him, it will make a whole world of difference. Yes, this will need some getting used to, but He understands and is very willing to begin with us where we are at. That is why Jesus gave Him to us.
Now there will be times when it feels like God silent. Matter of fact there would be A LOT of those times as you grow in your walk with God. He never leaves nor forsakes us, but the happenings of life overwhelms us so much that we lose His voice in the whole funk. Other times He allows tests and trials to come our way so that we will learn and grow. For what lesson is there without a test?
Note: He does not tempt us, He only allows tests and trials to come our way so that by depending on Him, we will scale over and become stronger.
In times like these, lean on and follow His Peace. Take the time to be silent, and wait. God is so good such that when we are about to take the wrong step, He “beeps” us. There will be a ruffling on your insides. He has carefully programmed this ‘internal Checking System ‘ within us that helps us know when things are not going right. For as long as we are in Christ, His Spirit is at work within us FULL TIME; confirming and being a witness to our hearts whether we are doing right or wrong. Follow that check, and act in peace.
Then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4:7 TPT
Imagine living like this all the time? Things will work out for you and you will overflow with testimonies. You will be so guarded and unfazed when life attempts to throw you a curve-ball.
This indeed is how to live a banging life!
Now, this is just preamble. In future posts, I will share my testimonies of how the Holy Spirit has helped me to live a banging life since I started walking and talking with Him in everything!
For now, would love to read your thoughts and comments on this.
